Digital ecosystems in the form of open learning systems offer opportunities to leverage advanced digitalisation in a network economy. Educational processes in an ecosystem allow for an individualized design of the study course, personalized learning on the basis of intelligent systems, and an increased exchange between research and teaching. In this context, open-learning ecosystems can be seen as a link to open education in the digital educational space. The ‘Digital Israel’ case study shows such an ecosystem at the level of the educational system.
