Study and vocational interests of high-school seniors: Motives, competences, and social factors

High-school seniors (N = 399) were interviewed about their preferences for study majors and vocations, as well as their motives/interests, social influences and school competences. The results show the impact of individual motives and the influences of parents and others. School influences proved to be rather small. Motivation can be described as multidimensional.
