This paper presents a questionnaire that can be used in German-speaking regions to measure the practice-oriented requirements and activities of higher education graduates and presents the empirical findings from a Germany-wide survey that deployed the questionnaire. The results reveal the labour-market requirements that were mentioned with particular frequency by around 10,000 higher education graduates who participated in the study. The results are further analysed in terms of differences between fields of study and professional areas, and the limitations of evidence-based practice are discussed, especially in the case of the present questionnaire. Although the questionnaire can yield plausible results in practice, the psychometric quality criteria are only partially met.
