Internationalization and digitalization in engineering education

Digitalization offers special opportunities for internationalization. In this context, the use of digital formats can open up new paths in both the university’s internationalization and outreach, as well as potential new teaching processes suitable for the an international student body. This paper demonstrates the breadth of this potential and explains the possibilities using specific examples. As part of a collaborative project between three German universities of engineering science, different digital formats were developed. These formats cover the guidance of student exchanges, as well as the implementation of explicit international digital cooperation.
