The highly diverse oral and written language abilities of today’s pupils call for the thorough preparation of future teachers in order to meet the related challenges. We taught student teachers of German how to use a didactically developed card index, which gives pupils standardized yet individual feedback on their texts in order to enable subsequent self-regulated editing. In this teaching experiment, bachelor’s students were compared to master’s students in a pre-post-follow-up design. Initial results show learning effects regardless of the previous duration of study. The sustainability of learning outcomes varies depending on the different tasks and measurement formats.
