This paper introduces the concept of a seminar for beginners in teacher education - "giving ear to pupils perspectives" - which has been been successfully tested as a means to encourage academic reflection on initial teaching experiences. Based on empirical data from the evaluation of the seminar, we provide a brief insight into the learning results and the students’ views on the relevance of the seminar for their progression in university studies and their professional development as teachers. In addition, the article offers perspectives on the diversity of student learners and university teachers, which should inspire further discussion in the field of inquiry-based learning.
