The following workshop report provides answers to questions concerning the added value gained by (rediscovering) the use of video in distance education in the context of Koumi’s classification “Added value video techniques and teaching function” (2009). The three key categories (i.e. video to assist learning and skills development, video to provide (vicarious) experiences, and video to nurture motivation and feelings) are rooted in practical experience gained by the authors with the subject of “one-way video” in distance learning.
